The Psychological Foetal Position PFP™ , is a framework developed by Amma Solomon-Browne, Change Strategist and systemic psychotherapist, to describe and address the ways in which humans psychologically curl inward in response to pain, overwhelm, trauma, and chronic stress. Drawing on developmental biology, attachment theory, systemic practice, and cultural analysis, PFP™ names a pattern that is universally experienced but rarely given language — the moment when protection becomes a way of living rather than a temporary response to difficulty.
The PFP™ Programme translates this framework into structured, evidenced, and embodied intervention for individuals, families, and organisations. It addresses the full spectrum of the position: from its intelligent protective function, through the point at which containment becomes limitation, to the conditions that allow genuine re-emergence and growth.
